After having delicious egg tarts, we decided to check out Yee Shun Milk Company, if we can find it. According to my bro, Yee Shun is located right next to the fountain in front of the City place.
We actually walk around the City center, and realize there are just too many fountains nearby! From the fountain in front of the great church to Angel fountain, we saw at least 3 fountains near Ruin's of St. Paul's. Not until we are about to give up looking for the store, we arrive the fountain in front of the Official Provisional Municipal Council of Macau, and suddenly remember bro did mention something like Provisional Municipal Council.. I am still out of my mind, Sandy has found the store!
When we arrived the plaza, we were right on time for the lantern festival ceremony, good timing! All the guests looks like they are quite famous in town, just like celebrities, however we don't know any of them ^^;; The event is held in Cantonese/English/Portuguese
The sky is still bright
This store is too low-profile, cuz it's hiding underneath some dark building without any obvious signs. When I saw the logo (the cow), I am then certain it's the one we are looking for!
The store is packed with people. Thank goodness there are still seats available!
It's very hot in Macau today. Having the hot steamed milk might be a bad idea. But this store is famous for hot steamed milk! Even though they also offer cold drinks and desserts, I still think we should give it a try!
Pricelist, I ordered the famous double-layer-steamed milk, and sandy ordered the ginger steamed milk
I really want to try the Pork Chop sandwich or the French Toast, and the Bolo-Butter Bun is a must try! But we are going to have dinner in just 30 minutes, so we decided to try them next time.
p.s. There's a minimum charge required. If you are not going to order anything, you have to pay MD$5! That means, if you wanna share a dish, you have to pay MD$5 extra also...
How to destinguish these two dishes? Well, it's not too hard!! Steamed milk is harder while Ginger one is more liquid like.
Famous double-layer-steamed milk $15, made by milk/egg white/sugar, tastes like sweet chawanmushi (Jap. steamed egg dish, except there is no egg yolk in this dessert.) It's like ToHua (soften Tofu), smells very milky, made by whole milk. The only problem with this dessert: there's no double layer @@ There's only one thin thin layer on top of the steamed milk! Not sure if it's the temperature that causes it.
The procedure to make steamed milk is rather difficult! First you have to cook the milk until a layer of steamd milk appear on top of the milk. The liquid has to add egg white and sugar and steamed. Just like ToHua but without the soy bean taste.
Looks like ToHua added in Soy Bean Milk, this is the ginger steamed milk $17. This is even more difficult to make, as you have to pour milk from one bowl to another over and over again
Try the ginger steamed milk first, very delicious! Because of the ginger sauce, the steamed milk is not too sweet, just about right! Taste like ToHua but got strong milk flavor. Smoooooth!
Compare to the just right sweetness ginger steamed milk, this double layer steamed milk is a bit toooo sweet. If you like sweet sweet sweets, you will love this steamed milk!
I love the ginger steamed milk more.
There's no serious decoration in the store. For me, "Clean" is always the most important thing I care about when I visit a shop. With or without decoration does not matter.
Front of the store, very blurry and dark.
Wonder how many bowls do they sell everyday??
Lantern at the plaza, very pretty!
There are few branches of Yee Shun in Macau. The first shop is at Xin-Ma Street (2 mins walking from the branch we went to). When we walk towards the dinner place, we walked pass by the first shop, so i took this photo.
I heard there are branches in HK too. According to my HK friends, steamed milk tastes better in Macau!
